A/N: I found this while clearing my shelves. I wrote it when I was in year 6. At least I think so…..
In today's world there are many problems. People are unkind to each other. Countries wage war against each other. There is a lot of terrorism everywhere.
What is the cause of all these problems? One reason could be because people don't follow the Human values. This gives rise to another question. What exactly are the Human Values? Truthfulness, Right-conduct, Non-violence, Peace and Love. These are all Human Values. Could these be the solutions to the problems we face?
Each Human Value is distinctive in its own way. Each Human Value is greatly important that not even one of them must be ignored. But how exactly are they important?
Truth is victorious. It is better to tell the truth and be punished than to tell a lie and escape punishment. Remember it is impossible to hide a lie forever. A liar would be caught one way or another. And when they are caught they must face the dire consequences. To tell one lie has a terrible penalty, and the 100 lies one has to utter to cover up for the one lie has an even more menacing consequence.
Right- conduct is just as necessary as Truthfulness is. It is a known fact that to do the right thing is better than doing the wrong thing. But then why do we do we partake in the wrong action a countless number of times? People rob, murder, vandalize etc... Etc... This is not right. You must not forget. If you do the wrong thing you will end up in a place so horrible you can't even think of it.
Non-violence. How quickly we have forgotten that valuable lesson taught to us by Mahatma Gandhi? Non- violence is to settle an argument or such thing without violence. Tell me how many of you can do that? Do you know what the best thing about Non-Violence is? No one gets hurt! As Mohammed Ali said "There are more pleasant things to do than beat up people."
Wars are raging in every direction. Our beloved Earth has become a enormous battle field. Innocent people are dying, there is no peace. War does not result in Peace. Why hasn't anyone realized that yet? To bring about Peace is not a difficult task; all you have to do is try.
Many Children demand love and kindness in their own special ways. Some of us are too blind to see this. You give your own child the love and care she needs. But what about that homeless orphan living in the alley? Thousands of children are left to fend for themselves in a cruel heartless world. All they need is a loving kiss, or a kind smile. Is that too much to ask for? Love and kindness are not wasted. They bless both the receiver and the giver. So start giving!
Following the Human values is absolutely compulsory if you want to make the place you live in a better place. If you follow these values others will follow, and you can bring about a much needed change.
